Happy Halloween!

Wikipedia: Throughout Ireland and Britain, there is a long tradition of carving lanterns from vegetables, particularly the turnip, mangelwurzel, or swede.
I carved a swede to be true to my Irish roots along with the more traditional North American pumpkin.

Very nicely done!

Swedes/turnips are incredibly laborious to carve. I have to say I love the versatility of pumpkins. However, we have realised Halloween isn't quite the same without that distinctive smell of burnt turnip that comes from the candle inside :)
